Day ZERO
31 Dezember: accoglienza a Marrakech, cenone insieme sulla mitica Piazza Jema El Fnaa, brindisi al nuovo anno, e poi di corsa a nanna perchè domani … 🙂December 31st: Welcome to Marrakech! We’ll share a festive New Year’s Eve dinner together on the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square, toast to the new year, and then off to bed because tomorrow… 🙂

Tag 1
1 Januar: appuntamento all’alba, si riempiono pance e serbatoi, e alle 08,00 in punto si parte per una prima entusiasmante tappa Marathon verso sud a scavalcare i Monti dell’Atlante attraverso uno dei passi più spettacolari, il Tizi n’Test, capolavoro dell’ingegneria francese degli anni venti; arrivati all’antica Taroundant, parte una strada di oltre 100 chilometri di curve che sembrano pennellate appositamente per l’apice del godimento di guida, immerse in un paesaggio che già vi ubriacherà per la sua selvaggia bellezza. Pernottamento a Tafraoute – über 350 km.
January 1st: meet at dawn—fill your bellies and fuel tanks—and at exactly 8:00 AM, we set off for an exciting first marathon stage heading south, crossing the Atlas Mountains via one of the most spectacular passes: Tizi n’Test, a masterpiece of French engineering from the 1920s. Upon reaching ancient Taroudant, we embark on a road with over 100 kilometers of curves seemingly painted for the ultimate riding pleasure, surrounded by a landscape that will intoxicate you with its wild beauty. Overnight stay in Tafraoute—approximately 350 km.

2 Januar: passando dalla splendida Tiznit, das “Città dell’argento”, famosa per il suo artigianato berbero, ci concediamo un tuffo nell’Oceano in uno dei tratti più spettacolari della costa del Marocco, con spiagge mozzafiato fra Mirleft e Legzira. Arrivo e pernottamento a Guelmin, das “Porta del Deserto” – über 250 km.
January 2nd: Passing through stunning Tiznit, das “City of Silver,” famous for its Berber craftsmanship, we take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean along one of Morocco’s most spectacular coastal stretches, featuring breathtaking beaches between Mirleft and Legzira. Arrival and overnight stay in Guelmin, das “Gateway to the Desert”—approximately 250 km.

3 Januar: abbiamo varcato la “Porta del Deserto”, ed effettivamente intorno a noi il paesaggio si fa sempre più arido; arriviamo a fine tappa, in località Icht, a metà giornata, perchè per chi lo vorrà nel pomeriggio faremo il primo entusiasmante (e faticoso!) assaggio di piste e di dune, su tracciati che hanno visto sfrecciare parecchie “Parigi-Dakar” – über 150 km + escursione in fuoristrada (Wahlfrei).
January 3rd: We have crossed the “Gateway to the Desert,” and the landscape around us becomes increasingly arid. We arrive in Icht by midday, where those who wish can embark on the first thrilling (and challenging!) off-road excursion in the afternoon, along tracks once raced by the legendary “Paris-Dakar” rally—approximately 150 km + optional off-road excursion.

4 Januar: proseguiamo da est a ovest la valle del Draa, stretti fra le ultime pendici dell’Atlantealla nostra sinistra e alla nostra destra il Sahara che ogni tanto fa capolino, attraversando città che solo il nome fa sognare: Acca, Imitek, Kindermädchen. Chi fa fuoristrada, comincerà a misurarsi su piste via via più lunghe e impegnative, perchè domani ci sono decisioni campali da prendere … Pernottamento a Foum Zguid – über 300 km.
January 4th: We continue east to west along the Draa Valley, squeezed between the last foothills of the Atlas Mountains on our left and the Sahara peeking out on our right. We pass through towns whose names alone evoke dreams: Acca, Imitek, Kindermädchen. Off-road enthusiasts will begin tackling increasingly longer and more demanding trails because tomorrow will be decision day… Overnight stay in Foum Zguid—approximately 300 km.

5 Januar: oggi è il grande giorno, ci tuffiamo nel Sahara, quello vero, non si scherza! Chi fa fuoristrada partirà alle prime luci dell’alba, dopo aver fatto il pieno di benzina e di acqua; li aspettano oltre 200 km, di cui circa 150 di pista: pietre, sabbia, fetch fetch, brevi tratti battuti in cui riprendere fiato. Il resto del gruppo correrà sulla strada asfaltata, che corre parallela a una trentina di chilometri in linea d’aria a nord – appuntamento al tramonto all’uscita della pista, tra Tagounite e Mhamid, dove anche i più cauti fra gli “stradali” potranno avventurarsi a masticare un po’ di pista e di sabbia! Arrivo e pernottamento a Zagora, da qui in 52 giorni a dorso di cammello si arrivava a Tomboctou, lungo una delle principali rotte transhariane, come ci ricorda il murales all’ingresso dell’abitato – über 250 km.
January 5th: Today is the big day—we dive into the real Sahara, no jokes! Off-road riders will depart at dawn after refueling with gas and water, facing over 200 km, about 150 of which are on tracks: rocks, sand, fesh-fesh, and brief solid stretches to catch their breath. The rest of the group will follow the paved road running about 30 km north in a straight line—rendezvous at sunset at the track’s exit between Tagounite and Mhamid, where even the most cautious road riders can taste a bit of sand and off-road fun! Arrival and overnight stay in Zagora, the legendary caravan town from where, in 52 days by camel, you could reach Timbuktu along one of the main trans-Saharan routes, as a mural at the town entrance reminds us—approximately 250 km.

6 Januar: Okay, è ora di iniziare la risalita, ma ne vedremo ancora delle belle, eccome! Prima tappa a Ouarzazate, la Hollywod africana, con visita simpaticissima agli Studios dove sono state girate scene memorabili di film come “Lawrence d’Arabia” und “Il Gladiatore”. Ma la chicca è nel pomeriggio, la visita allo ksar (villaggio fortificato) di Aït Benhaddou, un monumento vivente e strepitoso patrimonio dell’umanità “UNESCO”! Pernottamento a Aït Benhaddou – über 200 km.
January 6th: Okay, it’s time to head back north, but the adventure isn’t over yet! Our first stop is Ouarzazate, das “Hollywood of Africa,” where we’ll enjoy a fun visit to the famous studios where iconic scenes from films like “Lawrence of Arabia” und “Gladiator” were shot. The real treat, though, comes in the afternoon with a visit to the ksar (fortified village) of Aït Benhaddou, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site! Overnight stay in Aït Benhaddou—approximately 200 km.

Tag 7, 7 Januar: il rientro a Marrakech è maestoso, attraverso il più famoso dei passi del Marocco, il mitico Tizi n’Tichka. E poi appuntamento, esausti e elettrizzati, di nuovo in Piazza Jema El Fnaa, per l’ultima cena conviviale di questa indimenticabile avventura!
January 7th: Our return to Marrakech is majestic, crossing the most famous pass in Morocco, the legendary Tizi n’Tichka. Endlich, we reunite, exhausted yet exhilarated, back in Jemaa el-Fnaa square for the farewell dinner of this unforgettable adventure!
